Absa Group Limited has officially opened applications for its 2027 Industrial and Organisational Psychology Internship Programme, offering aspiring psychologists an opportunity to gain accredited industry experience within one of Africa’s leading banking institutions. The highly sought-after programme is accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and is designed to prepare Masters students for registration as Industrial Psychologists in Independent Practice.
The one-year internship programme is expected to commence in February 2027 and will run until January 2028. Based in Johannesburg, the programme aims to equip graduates with practical workplace skills, professional exposure, and cross-cultural competencies required in the evolving world of work.
According to Absa, the internship focuses on developing future-ready Industrial and Organisational Psychology professionals through structured learning, mentorship, and supervised workplace experience. Interns will be required to complete 260 working days within the 12-month internship period while rotating across key areas of Industrial Psychology.

Successful candidates will work under the guidance of two supervisors, including a senior internal Industrial Psychologist at Absa and an external academic supervisor from a recognised institution.
The internship also includes regular evaluations through logbooks and quarterly performance reports to ensure interns meet professional and industry standards.
