NNPC–SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship Program 2026

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), in partnership with Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), has officially announced the 2026 edition of the NNPC–SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship Program for qualified Nigerian students.

This prestigious scholarship initiative is designed to support academically outstanding Nigerians who are interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in disciplines relevant to the oil and gas industry. It is offered on behalf of the NNPC/SNEPCo Production Sharing Contract (PSC) partners and aims to develop highly skilled professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s energy sector and broader national development.

🎓 STUDY DESTINATIONS AND PROGRAMMES:
For the 2026 academic session, the scholarship will support one-year MSc programmes at the following institutions in the United Kingdom:

• University of Aberdeen
• Newcastle University

📘 ELIGIBLE COURSES:

At the University of Aberdeen, eligible programmes include:
• MSc Geophysics
• MSc Safety & Reliability Engineering for Oil & Gas
• MSc Advanced Chemical Engineering
• MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience

At Newcastle University, eligible programmes include:
• MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
• MSc Data Science
• MSc Engineering Management
• MSc Sustainable Chemical Engineering
• MSc Artificial Intelligence
• MSc Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
• MSc Marine and Ocean Engineering

💰 SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:
Successful applicants will receive:
• Full tuition fee coverage
• One return economy flight ticket from Nigeria to the United Kingdom
• A contribution towards living expenses

✅ ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Applicants must:
• Demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership potential
• Possess a minimum of a UK Upper Second-Class Honours degree (or equivalent)
• Have secured admission into an eligible programme at either university
• Meet English language requirements (e.g., IELTS score of at least 6.5 where applicable)
• Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by September 2026
• Be Nigerian citizens currently residing in Nigeria
• Be between the ages of 21 and 28 years by September 30, 2026
• Hold a valid Nigerian international passport (valid until at least December 2026)
• Not have previously studied in the UK or other developed countries

⚠️ IMPORTANT RESTRICTION:
Employees or immediate relatives of employees of SNEPCo, Royal Dutch Shell Group companies, or the participating universities may not be eligible for this scholarship.

📩 APPLICATION PROCESS:
Interested candidates are required to:

1. Apply for admission into any of the approved MSc programmes at either University of Aberdeen or Newcastle University
2. Obtain a formal admission offer from the chosen institution
3. Complete the scholarship application through the designated scholarship portal provided by the participating universities
4. Participate in further screening and selection processes if shortlisted

The universities will initially review applications and shortlist candidates before final consideration by SNEPCo.
