The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has announced that the next application round for its highly competitive Humboldt Research Fellowship will open on 15 July 2026, providing outstanding international researchers with an opportunity to undertake fully funded research in Germany.
The fellowship is one of Germany’s most prestigious research funding programs, supporting exceptional postdoctoral and experienced researchers from around the world across all academic disciplines. The program forms part of the Global Minds Initiative Germany, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, and aims to strengthen international research collaboration while fostering academic excellence.
The Humboldt Research Fellowship enables researchers to pursue independent research projects in collaboration with a host institution in Germany. Fellows gain access to world-class research facilities, academic networks, and long-term support from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The foundation maintains lifelong connections with its fellows, helping to foster international research partnerships and career development long after the initial fellowship period ends.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation actively promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across its funding programs. Applications are welcomed regardless of nationality, gender identity, age, disability status, ethnic background, religion, social background, or sexual orientation.
