Overview

Uppsala University is inviting applications for two full-time Research Assistant positions within the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, focusing on the research project, “Why Evictions Turn Violent: The Politics of Growing Cities.”

Key Responsibilities

Data collection and coding on eviction dynamics across major and secondary cities in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Administrative support, workshop coordination, and project management assistance.
Writing-related tasks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
Strong English communication skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with Excel; knowledge of local languages (Kiswahili, Amharic) is advantageous.
Desirable qualifications include Master’s-level studies, experience with conflict-related data coding, GIS analysis, and statistical software such as R.
