    The Human Rights Funders Network is seeking an experienced and highly organized Events Project Manager to support the planning and execution of major global events, including its flagship Funding Futures Festival.     Position Overview

    The Events Project Manager will oversee the planning and implementation of HRFN’s flagship events and gatherings. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across different countries and time zones.

    • Employment Type: Full-Time
    • Contract Duration: July/August 2026 – 30 June 2027
    • Work Schedule: Four-day work week (Monday–Thursday)
    • Location: Remote/Flexible
    • Reporting To: Head of Program Operations
    • Travel Requirement: Approximately 5–7%
    • Salary Range: USD $65,000–$80,000 annually

    The Funding Futures Festival

    A major focus of the role will be supporting HRFN’s Funding Futures Festival, a large-scale international gathering that brings together funders, activists, partners, and human rights leaders from around the world.

    The festival includes:

    • Approximately 300–350 participants
    • Delegates from more than 40 countries
    • Four days of programming
    • Plenary sessions
    • Concurrent workshops
    • Site visits
    • Cultural and artistic programming
    • Leadership retreats and side events

    The 2027 Festival is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg.

    Key Responsibilities

    Festival Planning and Coordination

    The selected candidate will lead comprehensive planning and operational coordination for the Funding Futures Festival.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Managing end-to-end event planning and implementation
    • Developing and maintaining project timelines through Asana
    • Coordinating internal teams, consultants, and external vendors
    • Organizing planning meetings and tracking action items
    • Supporting accommodation, transportation, childcare, catering, and audiovisual logistics
    • Managing registration systems and participant inquiries
    • Producing registration reports and logistical documentation
    • Coordinating visa support processes
    • Tracking budgets and expenditures
    • Overseeing onsite logistics during the event
    • Producing post-event reports and evaluations

    Participant Experience and Communications

    A significant component of the role involves ensuring a positive and accessible participant experience.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Responding to registration and travel inquiries
    • Managing participant communications
    • Preparing logistics guidance documents
    • Coordinating accessibility and care arrangements
    • Supporting safety and security planning
    • Liaising with speakers, attendees, and event partners

    Additional Event Management Responsibilities

    Beyond the Festival, the Events Project Manager will support several other HRFN gatherings throughout the year.

    These include:

    Public Events

    • One annual thematic event
    • Approximately 75–100 participants
    • Typically hosted in New York or London

    Invite-Only Programme Events

    • Two to three events annually
    • Groups of 20–50 participants
    • One- to two-day meetings

    Internal Retreats and Leadership Gatherings

    • Staff and steering committee retreats
    • Strategic planning sessions
    • Leadership meetings linked to major events

    Required Qualifications

    HRFN is seeking candidates with demonstrated event management expertise and a commitment to collaborative, mission-driven work.

    Applicants should possess:

    • Fluency in English
    • Three to seven years or more of event planning experience
    • Experience managing large-scale events with more than 150 participants
    • Experience working in nonprofit, philanthropic, or social impact sectors
    • Strong project management capabilities
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Experience managing vendors and service providers
    • Ability to work independently while coordinating diverse teams
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

    Technical Skills and Tools

    The ideal candidate should be comfortable using modern project management and collaboration platforms.

    Preferred technical competencies include:

    • Google Workspace (G Suite)
    • Asana
    • Slack
    • Event registration platforms
    • Budget tracking systems
    • Virtual collaboration tools

    Candidates should also be adaptable and willing to learn new technologies when required.
