Nawiri Impact Africa has announced a consultancy opportunity for a professional web developer to design and build a new organizational website as part of its transition into a fully independent and locally governed institution. Formerly operating as World Relief Kenya, the organization is undergoing a major rebranding and digital transformation process aimed at strengthening its public identity and expanding stakeholder engagement across Africa.

The consultancy call comes as the organization seeks to establish a credible and visible digital presence that reflects its new identity, mission, and impact within communities it serves. According to the Terms of Reference released by Nawiri Impact Africa, the new website will become the organization’s primary online platform for engaging donors, development partners, government institutions, job seekers, and local communities.

Website to Support Organizational Rebranding and Public Engagement

Nawiri Impact Africa stated that the website is a foundational component of its broader identity transition strategy. The organization noted that it currently lacks a standalone platform aligned with its new independent structure, making the project an urgent institutional priority.

    The website is expected to:

    • Clearly communicate the organization’s identity, mission, and values.
    • Highlight programmes, impact stories, and community outcomes.
    • Improve engagement with donors and strategic partners.
    • Enable online donations and supporter participation.
    • Provide a user-friendly platform for non-technical staff to manage independently.

The organization emphasized that the digital platform must reflect a locally rooted Kenyan identity rather than resemble a generic international NGO website template.

Scope of the Website Development Assignment

The selected developer will be responsible for designing and developing a fully responsive website optimized for mobile phones, tablets, and desktop devices. The platform will include multiple sections aimed at improving accessibility, transparency, and public communication.

    The proposed site structure includes:

    • Home
    • About
    • Programmes and Areas of Work
    • Impact and Stories
    • Reports and Financials
    • Partnerships
    • Careers
    • Blog and News
    • Donate / Get Involved
    • Contact
    • Safeguarding and Policies

Nawiri Impact Africa indicated that the website must maintain a consistent visual identity using approved branding elements, typography, colors, and layout systems.

Focus on Accessibility, Security, and Performance

The Terms of Reference place strong emphasis on website security, accessibility, and performance optimization. Developers will be expected to implement industry-standard security measures including SSL certification, HTTPS configuration, automated daily backups, and CMS hardening.

In addition, the website must meet accessibility standards through:

    • Keyboard navigation support
    • Properly labeled form fields
    • Readable colour contrast
    • Mobile-friendly design

The organization also highlighted the need for fast-loading performance, particularly in the Kenyan digital environment where many users rely on smartphones and varying internet speeds.

    SEO and Analytics Integration Required

The selected consultant will also oversee foundational Search Engine Optimization (SEO) implementation to improve the organization’s visibility online. This includes configuring:

    • Meta titles and descriptions
    • Clean URL structures
    • Image alt text
    • Google Search Console
    • Google Analytics or privacy-compliant alternatives

The organization further requires event tracking systems to monitor donations, contact form submissions, and website engagement metrics.

Donation and Social Media Integration Included

As part of the assignment, the website developer will integrate donation mechanisms such as:

    • M-Pesa
    • Card payment systems
    • Third-party donation tools

The website must also include social media integration and correctly routed contact forms to ensure smooth communication with staff and stakeholders.

Nawiri Impact Africa stated that all written content, reports, and images required for development will be supplied internally, while the consultant’s role will focus on formatting, structure, and technical implementation.

    Project Timeline and Deliverables

The consultancy is expected to run in four phases over approximately eight to twelve weeks.

    Indicative Timeline

    • Design and setup: 2–3 weeks
    • Development phase: 3–5 weeks
    • Content upload and testing: 2–3 weeks
    • Go-live and handover: 1 week

The selected consultant will also provide a 30 to 60-day post-launch support period for bug fixes and minor adjustments after deployment.

    Expected deliverables include:

    • Fully functional live website
    • CMS administrator access
    • Staff training and user guide
    • Source code and backups
    • SEO setup confirmation
    • Performance testing reports
    • Maintenance documentation

    Qualifications and Evaluation Criteria

Nawiri Impact Africa is seeking consultants with proven experience in professional website development, particularly using WordPress or similar CMS platforms. Experience working with NGOs and mission-driven organizations will be considered an advantage.

Applications will be evaluated based on:

    • Portfolio quality and relevance
    • Technical understanding of the assignment
    • Cost-effectiveness
